Dear Class of 2021,

The faculty, staff, and students at The Paul Merage School of Business would like to welcome you and your significant other to spend a weekend (April 26 – April 27, 2019) on the beautiful UC Irvine campus. You will have the opportunity to connect with the Merage School family including current students, faculty, staff, alumni, and soon-to-be classmates.

Some of the events scheduled include a group dynamics discussion, career services workshop, team building activities, a club fair, a networking reception and much more!

LOCATION

The Paul Merage School of Business is located in Irvine, Orange County, California. Orange County is bordered on the west by the Pacific Ocean, on the north by Los Angeles County and on the south by San Diego County.

Driving Directions

If you are coming from NORTH of Irvine (Los Angeles area):
Take the 405 freeway south just past the 55 freeway. Take the Jamboree Road exit. Turn right onto Jamboree Road. Turn left onto Campus Drive. The campus will be a couple of miles ahead on the right.

If you are coming from SOUTH of Irvine (San Diego area):
Take the 405 freeway north. Take the Jamboree Road exit. Turn left onto Jamboree Road. Turn left onto Campus Drive. The campus will be a couple of miles ahead on the right.

If you are coming from EAST of Irvine (Riverside area):
Take the 91 freeway west to the 55 freeway south. Take the 55 freeway south to the 405 freeway south. Take the Jamboree Road exit. Turn right onto Jamboree Road. Turn left onto Campus Drive. The campus will be a couple of miles ahead on the right.

Flying

It is easiest to fly into nearby John Wayne/Orange County Airport in Santa Ana (airport code SNA). The airport is approximately five miles from the UC Irvine campus. Other airports for consideration are Long Beach (LGB) and Ontario International (ONT). International and cross-country domestic flights typically go to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).

Those flying into LAX can use a shuttle service from Los Angeles to the UC Irvine campus for about $25. To book, please visit Prime Time Shuttle’s UCI Affiliate Discount Page.

REIMBURSEMENT PROCESS

Those traveling from outside Southern California to attend Admits Weekend are eligible for a maximum $200 flight reimbursement. Those traveling from outside of the United States are eligible for a maximum $300 flight reimbursement. Please review the following details if you require a flight reimbursement.

What is included?

  • Domestic flights – maximum $200 for your flight. Please note that we can not cover any additional flight costs for guests.
  • International flights – maximum $300 for your flight. Please note that we can not cover any additional flight costs for guests.
  • Hotel – (1) room for the nights of April 26th and 27th. This will be prepaid and you will not incur any charges upon check out. However, extra incidentals such as the mini bar will not be covered by Merage and must be paid by each guest upon checking out.

 

What is not included?

  • Other charges such as taxis or a rental car are not eligible for reimbursement.
  • Flights purchased using airline rewards or flight credit are not eligible for reimbursement.
  • Hotel Incidentals

How can I receive my reimbursement?

By coming to Admits Weekend you are automatically enrolled to receive these benefits, but please note that we will not be able to process your reimbursement prior to the event. To receive the reimbursement, we require that you send original, hard-copies of the following:

  1. The original boarding passes of your round trip flight. Remember to keep these!
  2. Original invoice or E-receipt from the online site where your reservation was placed. This must include: traveler name, total cost, itinerary, ticket number (this is different from flight number) and a proof of payment. A confirmation email will not suffice.
  3. This flight reimbursement form.

Additionally, international students will need to fill out the following forms:

  1. Wire Transfer Form
  2. Certificate Of Academic Activity

ACCOMMODATIONS

Travelling from outside Southern California to visit us for Admits Weekend? Enjoy a complimentary stay at the Hilton Garden Inn.

Booking Details

The Paul Merage School of Business is pleased to provide accommodations on Friday, April 26th and Saturday, April 27th to our admitted students joining us from outside the Southern California area on a first come first serve basis. Accommodations have been arranged at the Hilton Garden Inn, located at 2381 Morse Avenue, Irvine, California, 92614. The hotel is less than 4 miles from the UC Irvine campus and provides complimentary on-site parking, breakfast, a complimentary airport shuttle to/from the John Wayne Airport and shuttle service to/from the hotel and the Paul Merage School of Business.

To book your hotel reservation, please fill out the necessary questions found when you register. You must RSVP for accommodations no later than April 12, 2019.

Shuttle Service

The hotel will be providing complimentary shuttle service between the hotel and John Wayne Airport. After collecting your baggage, please contact the hotel directly at 949-224-3900 to schedule an airport pick up. Then proceed to the ‘Ground Transportation’ signs located outside of the airport where you should wait for the shuttle bus. The shuttle runs from daily from 5AM-10PM and your return trip can be booked during your hotel check-in. Additionally, we will coordinate transportation between the Hilton Garden Inn and the UC Irvine campus.

Background: Medical Device/Healthcare
Area of Interest:  Project Management.

Hana Su is a first year, Full-Time MBA candidate with a target focus in project management and finance in the healthcare industry. She was born and raised in Los Angeles, California where she graduated from the University of Southern California with a Bachelor of Science in Chemical (Biochemical) Engineering. Upon graduation, she worked as an R&D Associate to develop and validate diagnostic assays at the medical device sector of General Atomics in San Diego for 3 years.

Merage’s exceptional curriculum and outstanding career center are the perfect program resources to pivot Hana into a managerial role. She is excited to get connected with the many healthcare and pharma companies that Merage maintains close relationships with.

For free time, Hana loves to read on her Kindle, go out dancing, play tennis, organize board game nights, and make the 6-hour trek to Mammoth Mountain to snowboard with friends and family.

Dylan Barreira

Dylan Barreira is a first year, Full-Time MBA candidate focusing his studies on finance and real estate. Dylan was born and raised in Brampton, Ontario and graduated from the University of Calgary with a Bachelor of Science in Geomatics Engineering. While in school, he completed three summer internships at a global EPCM company, working in Project Controls as a Cost Estimator. Following graduation, Dylan worked as a Geomatics E.I.T., Business Development Manager, and Operations Manager for a geomatics engineering company specialized in GIS and Remote Sensing.

Dylan chose the Merage School of Business for the digitally-focused curriculum and tightly-knit community. While at Merage, he hopes to gain a more in-depth comprehension of core business concepts while refining his leadership skills.

In his free time, Dylan enjoys going to the gym, lounging on the beach, and cheering on the Calgary Flames.
